Working Principal

The DAMPCHASER® mirror demister is a thin .4mm thick adhesive heating pad which is attached to the rear of a mirror. The pad comes with a permanently attached one meter power cord which is usually wired up to the bathroom lighting circuit. When the mirror demister is turned on it gently warms the mirror and prevents the mirror from steaming up. Smudged and blurry mirrors will be a thing of the past, making it so easy to apply your makeup, and attend to your personal grooming needs.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS AND SAFETY POINTS

Prior to installing the DAMPCHASER® mirror demister please read the instructions below.
Installation is not difficult and conforms to standard industry practice. As with any electrical product, we recommend that the installation be performed by a qualified person in accordance with local building and electrical codes.

  • HANDLE WITH CARE: DO NOT CUT, PUNCTURE, USE STAPLES, OR NAILS TO MOUNT THE DEMISTING PAD. (see note 3 below)

    • Disconnect power and check that circuits are NOT LIVE before proceeding with the installation.
    • The power supply cable of the demister should not be pulled forcefully; this may break the wiring to the demister pad.
    • The fine heating wires of the mirror demister should never be cut or damaged. This will render the product useless and it cannot be repaired. You may trim off any excess material as long as the actual heating grid is NOT damaged. If trimming is required, do not trim any closer than 20mm (3/4 in.) to the element wires (See Fig 1 below)

  • FITTING THE DEMISTER TO THE MIRROR

    • Ensure the back of the mirror is clean, dry and grease free.
    • Lay the mirror face down on a padded surface.
    • Peel back a section of the backing paper exposing the adhesive side. Align and place the adhesive side to the back of the mirror. Using a soft cloth gently press out any trapped air bubbles as you remove the remainder of the protective backing.

INSTALLING THE MIRROR DEMISTER ONTO THE WALL

Walls must be dry, stable and smooth. The heated mirror can be installed on walls made of wood, ceramic tile, marble, etc.

As with any electrical product, we recommend that the installation be performed by a qualified person in accordance with local building and electrical codes.

The heated mirror can be wired directly into a switched wall circuit. In many cases the bathroom or vanity lighting circuit can be used. In some situations where the mirror is fastened to a metal surface or if there is a metal surround then the exposed metal should be grounded. The use of a Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) may be required.

Mirrors can be attached to walls and vanities in a variety of ways. It is essential, no matter which method is adopted, to allow for a slight thermal expansion of the glass mirror. Never secure so tight as to not allow for a slight movement, as this may result in cracking. If the mirror is to be mounted with a ceramic tile surround or is in-between two walls for example, then allow a clearance of at least 2mm (1/16 in.) The gap can be filled with a bead of silicone to match.

Switch the power on and test. In approximately 3-5 minutes, the mirror should become warm.

Warning: Only use the DAMPCHASER® mirror demister for its intended use.
